Most founders know something is off before they can name it.

The product works and the team is growing, but running the company keeps getting harder. That feeling is real, and it’s usually specific. It’s almost never everything at once.

This assessment looks at the four places operational drag lives, and it measures each one by what happens to it when you’re unavailable.

You’ll get four scores and a straight answer about which category is furthest behind. You won’t get a plan. A checklist from someone who has never met your company isn’t worth much, and knowing where to look is worth something on its own.

What it measures

Four categories, with one question underneath all of them: what happens when you’re not in the room?

People and structure

Which decisions get made without you, and what happens when someone is out for a week.

Process and cadence

The rhythm that keeps the company on plan, what’s written down, and where handoffs drop.

Compliance and risk

What applies today, what’s coming, who owns it, and what happens when someone outside asks for proof.

Financial infrastructure

What reporting exists, whether it survives scrutiny, and how many people can explain the burn.

Answer for your bad weeks

Answer honestly rather than aspirationally. The version of the company you have on a bad week is the one this asks about, and nothing here asks you to admit anything you wouldn’t say out loud on a call.

Alden was instrumental in establishing processes and procedures that were clear and easy to understand, but still scalable, with specific points for metric evaluation that allowed us to pinpoint friction areas and improve them.

No newsletter. You’ll be asked who you are before you see your scores, and I’ll email you a copy with one note about what they mean. If you’d rather talk it through, the results page has a link for that.
