After more than 15 years in consulting and project management, Alden co-founded Engine No. 9 with Janeen Saltman. Prior to joining Engine No. 9, Alden was project manager and account executive for advertising and marketing projects as large as $5 million with companies as diverse as Siemens AG, Johnson & Johnson, Sprint PCS, and a European rubber stamp manufacturer. Alden began writing software in 1979—his first project was a pinball machine game for a predecessor to the IBM PC. Alden is responsible for overall project management, consulting, and technology.
Alden spent four years as a consultant to Verizon Wireless, where he worked in Business Development, Marketing, and Analytics. He has served as COO/CFO/CTO to multiple companies.
Alden holds both Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering degrees from The University of Pennsylvania, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
After graduating from New York University, Janeen Saltman started her career in real estate advertising and marketing. During her time in these fields, Janeen’s natural talent for account management, planning, and execution became her signature. Full of experience, knowledge, and creativity, Janeen launched Engine No. 9 with Alden Levy. Janeen was Vice President for Stanton & Co., Inc., and Account Executive for Len Dugow & Associates, Inc., both advertising firms focusing on the Real Estate market. Janeen is responsible for account management and sales.
Janeen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from New York University.
Aaron has nearly 30 years of consumer and business sales, partnership, and marketing experience. He has worked with companies of all sizes – from Fortune 500 to startups and has extensive experience with a number of different industries. Mr. Birnbaum has the unique ability to initiate ‘win-win’ discussions, explain clearly and concisely how technology works in a granular ‘easy to understand’ level, and to work successfully with many diverse types of people.
As Founder and Principal of CITM, Mr. Birnbaum helped a variety of small to midsize companies by developing business plans, marketing strategies, sales programs, and recommending new technologies. He has worked across a broad spectrum of industries and has personal relationships with many Fortune 500 companies including AOL/Time Warner, Amtrak, MCI/WorldCom/Verizon, Burger King, Citicorp, Coors Brewing Company, Hill & Knowlton, P&G, Coca-Cola, Bank of America, Weiden+Kennedy, Puma, and Nike.
Aaron received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the SUNY College at Oswego and his MBA from the University of Denver. He has been an advisor and investor in several startup companies across industries.
